Terms of use

Popote AI is a conversational assistant for merchants, consumers, distributors, manufacturers, producers and field agents (Popote Buyers) operating in Benin. Popote AI helps merchants restock, helps consumers shop and gives manufacturers, producers and distributors visibility into the market. The service is published by Popote Group.

Using Popote AI means fully accepting these terms of use. Popote Group reserves the right to amend them at any time, and users are informed of any material change.

Registration requires a valid phone number, verified by a confirmation code. Each user chooses a profile matching their activity (merchant, consumer, distributor/manufacturer/producer, or Popote Buyer). The user agrees to provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

Sissakèdèh lets a merchant access renewable capital to restock, in exchange for a recurring subscription whose amount is shown in the app at sign-up. This capital is provided by a financial partner, never directly by Popote Group. Funds move only between the financial partner and the suppliers, never through an intermediary Popote account and never into the merchant's hands. Access to the service is subject to a prior assessment, validation by the Popote teams, then by the financial partner and, where applicable, by the partner insurer.

Fresh lets a consumer shop through a Popote Buyer, in exchange for a service fee per order. Payment is made through the user's digital wallet within the app.

Popote Signal provides access to market signals (availability, actual prices, competitor moves, knock-on effects across categories, changing consumption habits), built from conversations aggregated and cross-referenced across several users in the network. No identifiable individual information is shared with distributors, manufacturers or producers. Popote Signal comes in two versions, Signal and Signal+, whose precise terms are detailed at sign-up.

The Popote Buyer is an independent field agent, not an employee of Popote Group. They earn a commission on the merchants they support and on the deliveries they carry out, under the terms set when they join the network.

The user agrees to use the service in good faith, not to provide false information and not to attempt to bypass the security or verification mechanisms in place.

Popote Group acts as a technology intermediary. Popote Group is neither a lender nor an insurer; these services are provided by duly authorised third-party partners. Popote Group cannot be held liable for the credit or insurance decisions made by these partners.

Each user may stop using the service at any time. Popote Group reserves the right to suspend or terminate a user's access in the event of a breach of these terms.

These terms are governed by Beninese law. Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of Cotonou.
